About us

When you decide to hire a Pest Management Professional, it is not a decision that should be taken lightly. There are more variables that should go into account than can be listed in one paragraph. With that, here are some of the more important. 

Exactly who are you allowing into your home? When you hire Sentry Pest Solutions, it’s me, Dan, and here is a little about myself and my journey to a career in pest control.

I started out, as many exterminators have, on accident. I was in the manufacturing industry, where work is not guaranteed, and it began to dry up. My fiance, Andrea, kept us afloat through the tough times. She is a super kind person and is well educated with several degrees, including art, science, and education. Andrea has been an amazing teammate through this journey, so you may get her on the phone when you give us a call!

My mom knew a pest control pro looking for help, and I got the job not knowing that my life was about to change. I absolutely fell in love with the pest control industry. I went from talking to a computer all day to interacting with all different kinds of great people. And in the best way possible, everyone loves the bug guy! I would show up, solve a problem, then see them again in a few months.

After a while, I realized that every winter would be the same, slow, and being number two, I wouldn’t be the one showing up and solving the pest problems. The only way to fix this would be to start my own pest control business. The area I have lived in most of my life, Homer Glen, Frankfort, New Lenox, Orland Park, Lockport, Joliet, did not seem to have a sufficient pest control presence. No one stood out as ‘top of the line,’ so I wanted to fill that role. I wanted to be the Pest Management Professional that gets the calls when everyone else fails. I was determined to be the best, so I spent the next few years learning, studying, filling my brain with as much knowledge as I could.

I discovered how the science behind it all works. Everything reacts differently to different treatments. An ant problem and a spider problem require different treatments. Bed bugs and cockroaches are different. Mice and rats, again, different. Moles and voles, even though they are very close, require different methods of elimination. Eradication of yellow striped pests, like wasps, yellow jackets, and bees, can be tricky. Improper treatments can ruin a wall or not even prove effective. One thing I was not thrilled to see, was the unsafe and overuse of rodenticides. I lean away from them, and although they have a purpose, they are not silver bullets. I prefer exclusion and trapping, which are longer lasting solutions.

I bring a safer, more natural, approach to pest control to the Will and Cook county area. I developed this approach when I began to use a product called In2Care. It is designed for mosquitos, and it works better than I could ever imagine. I also offer chemical treatments for mosquitoes and ticks.
